The first solo album of 'le Poète Simarro Massiya'.
'Maya', the first girl I fell in love with was also called
Maya. She was beautiful, as is the titlesong of this LP.
Superb vocals by Carlito, I think it's from 1984,
can anyone confirm ?
tracks;
1 Maya ozali coupable ya misere na ngai
2 Tshala
3 Affaire kitikwala
4 Bangaka basi ya bato

if you google search the album title with his name, many sites selling a used copy of this record have the year listed as 1984. not a concrete answer, but it's the best I could find.
About all I can confirm is that for every first girl one falls in love with, there's a second, and a third, until one day...
Thanks Moos!
Simaro Massiya Lutumba is a true Lingala Language poet. He shook the Congolese Rumba world with "Marie Souza", and "Mahele" but I think he reached his prime with "Mace", "Radio Trottoir" and "Mbau Na Korécuperer" inter alia. I can never tire of listening to his compositions. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Moos - what a fantastic album! Apurva from Pune, India.

I found the post with Simarro 'le poete genial' also here in Global Groove and loved it. I was just trying to find another of his records this week. great post.

I never tire of Testament Ya Bowane....first heard by me on LP in 1986 together with Franco (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1381361/a/Testament+Ya+Bowule.htm)
and more recently comped on a 4 volume set:

I don't really know where to start. What a beautiful thing you are doing for the music world. I'll keep checking in and posting comments as they occur to me. Really enjoying the music mate.
