In the month of June I posted an album by Orchestre Micky Micky from Congo.
Today's Micky-Micky is a different one, from Nigeria's 1977, a completely
different sound. No rumba here but unforged highlife on the 'Jofabro' label.
I really can't tell you anything usefull other than listen and enjoy.

Flor Morales Ramos or in short Ramito is one of the
interpreters of traditional style Jibaro. El Cantor de la Montaña
is back at the GG with a sweet album. Aguinaldo, Seis,
Plena, Mariandá, Mapayé are typical Puerto Rican music styles,
that the great Ramito brought us like no other, check it yourself.
P.S., B-side gets a bit false towards the end due to lurching grooves.

Oh dear, my friends in Congolese music, this album is so hót !
Is it just my indestructible mood of the day or do you agree ?
Damn, I can't get enough of those stirring guitars and sweet
rhythms, and I didn't even mention the astonishing vocal parts.
Better put on your dancing shoes before this record,
You are being warned.

Nana Kwame Ampadu I was the leading man in this fine band. Composer,
arranger, singer, guitarist, he was it all. I am not sure from which year it is,
probably somewhere half way the 70's. Another gap that's being filled on
the world wide web, pick it up and play, you won't regret. Sweet highlife and
'Afrohili Soundz'. Every once in a while a new term is launched hoping to
become the new standard. In this case it remained as the title of a couple LP's.

You know them, Les Bantous de la Capitale came by here a couple
of times before, check our search option. They always guarantee a
solid performance. This here LP is from 1984, listen some more.

One of the finest interpreters of Soukous was without any doubt the
great Pepe Kalle. I just love that voice with it's raw edges. On Syllart
comes this album of which I can't tell you much more apart from the
fact it's from 1986 and that it's one heck of an album.

Names like, Kiolo Ferdinand "Watawa",
Itoua Abel "Diamant", Mienandi Gabriel "Muchacho",
Mampounga J.Pierre "Ley", Ballou Canta, Elenga Joseph Ellington",
Sita Joseph "Joe-la-Bass", Bruno Houla, Ferdinand Hemilembolo "Milex",
Kabeya Lubuani, Kembo Mayimona, Nanitouma "Moulou", they didn't ring
any bells. The only familiar name to me was Ernest Massengo, It passed
by shortly on that album of Trio Ce-Pa-Kos with Orchestre le Peuple.

From 1979 on Sacodis we've got this one. Amadou Balake knew
exactly who to turn to when he went to the Big Apple. Great line-up
with Aboudou Lassissi's crew. Fun to hear Amadou go crazy in
track no.5, CHOCOLATE !!!, LASSISSI !!! Don't miss it. Listen.

Something quite special tonight. A Nigerian Release of Congolese
music. On 'Deram' distributed by Rogers All Stars, on behalf of Decca
West Africa Limited. I found two albums on this label recently, the other
one also contains some beautiful tracks of which most were also released
on the 'african' label as 'l'Afrique Danse'. Some of the songs on this LP aswell
by the way. Check out 'Stars from Zaïre' Vol. 4. Enjoy.

On entre O.K. on sort K.O., what a true remark. This is absolutely
one of the finest albums Franco ever released. I am sure you will agree.
I can't tell you the year of release but I'm sure one of you can. What splendid
guitars by Simaro and P.P. Noel, Josky's great voice and the O.K. Jazz'
hornsection, don't we just love le Grand Maître's work? I surely do.

Next in line here at the Global Groove is this album by Duo
Los Ahijados. It was formed by the brothers Cuco and Martin Valoy
from the Dominican Republic. That's more or less all I can tell about
this LP, and of course that it's a great listen for you summer evening.

You know, mostly when I tell you something about the LP that
I'm posting, I get the information from the internet. To be honest
I often don't know sh*t about it. I am no specialist in any genre,
and just believe my own damn ears, that's all. Let's turn things
around for a while, I post the music and info from the album that I
just like and you provide us with decent background information.
How's that for a change ? For instance, I only suggest that the
words written under the titles ( backsleeve, in capital ) are titles too.
They might aswell not be. Can you clear up this matter for starters ?

Hello Groovers, I have been too busy to keep up the normal pace but today I
finally found some time to post another LP. What do we have here ? From 1985
comes this fine album which contains two tracks sung by Josky Kiambukuta
and two by Ntesa Dalienst. No O.K. Jazz this time but a formation probably
just for this occasion. Another great piece of Congolese music to lighten up
your weekend. Mayika and Michelino show they know how to pull a string too.

This Franco album from 1985 is a real classic. Most of you'll
probably have it long time already, if you don't, do not hesitate.
Mario was one of 'Le Grand Maître's' biggest hits and should be
part of your Franco collection without any doubt. Just the thing
for your easy sunday afternoon, enjoy once more.
