Pépé Kallé & Empire Bakuba - Soucis ya Likinga,
Bade Stars Music 1986

This 1986 album concerns Pépé Kallé and his Empire Bakuba.
Pépé's voice always captured me for having such nice rough
edges. He remains one of my favourite singers and therefore
one of the Global Groove's shining stars. This LP's sleeve
speaks of stars and shows us several stars,
let them shine through your speakers,
bling swing and do da ting.

tracks;

1 Soucis ya likinga
2 Perfusion
3 Dadou 2e version
4 Simplicité

Perhaps the most versatile of the Congolese mega stars
he could do rhumba, mutwashi, kwassa kwassa, use horns, not use horns, use synthesizer or not, sing lead or hum in the background, ... I love this guy
I have enjoyed this LP for many yrs
Great post

hello Dr Moos, as I noticed that on your bloglist there wasn't any blog of salsa and as I know you can be the Flying Dutch Salsero sometime, may I suggest you'd put that one : http://eloraculodelasalsa.blogspot.com
Check by yourself.Seems like it's the blog of guys that were holding a forum called zonamusical where few years ago I found lots of good stuff.

Woud and Soukousman you said it all. One of the best Zairen singers. Only this month (28/11) will be 12 years since he fell to that fatal heart attack. The spirit live on for ever through his music...

Fantastic album, although I have to dispute the 'most versatile' title being handed over to him here. In Congo the most versatile title should definitely go to one Georges Kiamuangana Mateta AKA Verckys...The guy could play all the wind instruments they used in the band, guitar, keyboard, was a backup vocalist if I'm not wrong and had an eye for talent if the groups that he was a godfather to are anything to go by......

I love this recording. I have already played it twice, and will be playing it some more.

I am especially like track 3 (Dadou 2e version) for the interplay between the Kalle, the guitarist and the backing vocals.

Excellent Moos.
