l'Afrique Danse 360117, african 1978

In the l'Afrique Danse Series on the 'african' label, tonight
this one from 1978. It opens with a spoken part, I guess it's
in Lingala. No idea what it's all about, can someone explain us ?
Then Zaiko Langa Langa takes over sweet. Orchestre Viva la Musica's
Papa Wemba invited his young friend Koffi Olomide and asked him to
compose for them. track #3 is one of Koffi's first compositions.
Last but not least a track by Youlou Mabiala with Les Trois Freres.

Docteur Nico & l'African Fiesta Sukisa - l'Afrique
Danse No 9, african 1970

I can hardly express the feeling that came over me when I found
this LP. If you are going through big piles of records and then
suddenly Docteur Nico looks you in the face, that is a special
moment. I am very happy to share this fantastic album with you
today. Isn't that a great picture, the doctor on his couch, a fresh
glass of cold beer waiting in the back. I can see him a few minutes
later, drinking his well deserved beer and playing a couple of them
singles. Who knows what the doc was listening to in 1970.

Dr. K. Gyasi's Noble Kings - the Highlife Boss,
Essiebons Enterprises Ltd. 1975

I am always thrilled to find any project on which the great 'Eric Agyemang'
performs, I am a big fan of his guitarwork. If vocals are taken care of by
'Thomas Frimpong' and it concerns an LP of Dr. K. Gyasi's Noble Kings,
my day is made completely. This is to my humble opinion the finest highlife
you can find. From Ghana's 1975, sweet stuff.

Mayaoula Mayoni - 'le Grand', Disc'Orient

So much great music at this moment I hardly know where to start.
Let's go with Mayaoula Mayoni today, what an album. Both vocal
as instrumental sweetness, very original guitar rifs with plenty
of rough edges left. We can't blame Disc'Orient for over-producing
this LP. Track #3, Nely maman, just blew me away, listen to the fresh
-ness of that rhythm-machine, I absolutely love it !
Probably released early to mid 80's.

Vicky et OK Jazz, EMI 1971 / 1976

Two times a year, the biggest record-fair of Europe takes place
just 20 minutes from my home. One of my best friends owns a recordstore
and is participant on the fair. So lucky me, on friday I help him
build up his stand and off I am. Public comes on saturday, first choice
and lots of space. I almost feel guilty snatching away so much goodies
but you're all lucky with me, I found some real treasures to share.

To start of I posted that fantastic highlife album by Vis-a-Vis yesterday.
Todays jewel is one that was released originally in 1971. This is the
1976 re-issue. Superb vocals by the great Vicky and as always, Franco's
OK Jazz delivers high quality backing, sweet saxophones and guitars.
Stay tuned for lots of treasures to follow.

From 1969, 1970 is this album by le Seigneur Rochereau. Ndombe Pepe

the only thing I know sure. I thought I knew Rochereau as a singer,
but is he performing in some kind of way on this LP ? It is an all
instrumental album. Does he play the guitar perhaps ? I hope one of

To make good digital copy's of my LP's I use a Sony Compact Disc Recorder,

A good opportunity to catch up with the Global Samplers. This one covers
